Bird of Prey Handling Day

What does the activity include? After coffee and registration you will spend the morning learning about all aspects of falconry from the Falconers Knot to flying and handling these magnificent birds. After a well-earned lunch you will move out to the countryside to fly the hawks in their natural environment returning to the centre at about 4.30pm. Where does the experience take place? The experience takes place in Nottingham Kent or Devon. What should I wear? As this activity will be mostly outdoors we suggest you wear comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for the weather conditions and a pair of strong walking boots or wellingtons if possible. How long should I allow for this experience? You should allow a full day for this activity. When does the activity take place? The activity takes place all year round but spring and autumn are ideal seasons for falconry as the temperatures are perfect for the birds in these months. Are there any restrictions? Minimum age for Falconry course is 14 years. What about the weather? If the weather is cause for cancellation then an alternative date will be offered to you. Can I bring spectators? Spectators are welcome but there may be a charge depending on location. Kent - 1 spectator per voucher holder is permitted at a cost of £30. Nottingham - Spectators are welcome at a charge of £30 per person (under 10 years go free) Devon - Spectators are welcome at a charge of £30 per person Spectators must be booked in advance but the fee is payable on the day. Spectators under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult for insurance reasons. What else do I need to know? Centres operate all year round.
